School has been out for awhile now and the weather is beautiful! If you’re a parent like me, you know how hard it can be to get kids out of the house these days! I know how enticing they find watching other people play video games on youtube or binge watching Dr. Pimple Popper (yuck.) But lucky for you, there’s plenty to do around the valley to win your kids back!

Hiking, Walking & Biking

Whether you’ve been hiking as long as you’ve been walking or just love to find a gorgeous view, there are plenty of areas around the surrounding regions and Eagle that can get you your fix. The Eagle Bike Park has lots of little trails that lead around the foothills. The Greenbelt is the best know area to walk, bike, hike or roll. It can take you all the way to Boise with trails that go for miles along the calming river and beautiful scenery. Table Rock is a famous Boise hike that every visitor needs to try at least once, with a view that overlooks the entire city of Boise.

Fishing

It’s finally time to break out your fishing poles and your sunhats! Eagle Island State Park includes excellent fishing spots and it’s always being stocked with fish. The Eagle Fish Hatchery is a great spot where beginners are able to learn about the procedure for fish stocking. Fish and Game works diligently to maintain the fish for our recreational demands. They publish an updated listing of the stocking program, which means that you may know precisely where and when the water was stocked which lists every fishing pond in the region.

Golf

Eagle Hills Golf Course is available to all and is also an excellent way to spend a sunny day! With the beautiful surroundings this golf course over looks, people don’t just come for the golfing. There is also a pub and a delicious restaurant. The space is even able to be rented out for any occasion. Eagle Hills offers classes for anybody attempting to shave a few points or for people seeking to get in the game.

Swimming

Eagle Island has everything any kid could want to do. And I mean anything. With a swimming hole, fishing, disc golf, playset, hiking, biking and grilling, Eagle Island has you covered! No matter what crowd you’re trying to please, Eagle Island has something for everybody. They even have a play-area that is fantastic for the younger ones. And of course, Zip Boise (situated within the park) is among the greatest zip lines in the nation!

Outdoor Movies

Our little community has done a great job of creating fun summer activities. In Settlers Park and Julia Davis Park, they show movies on a massive blow up screen in the summer time. Lucky for you, you wouldn’t have to pick which one to go to! Settlers Park shows movies on Friday evenings at dark and Julia Davis shows movies on Saturdays. These parks have plenty of sponsors dedicated to creating an evening of family friendly entertainment. Just don’t forget a blanket and some snacks!

My list could go on and on, but we think that it’s better you simply get out there and try it all! Whether you’ve been living in Eagle your whole life or are new and looking for a fun day with the kids, try these out! And feel free to give me a call anytime for more fun summer ideas!
